I’ve been a member of the Baltimore County Tourist Association since 1989. Our mission is to promote and grow tourism in Maryland by sharing information on the county’s attractions, events, and history.
We host a lot of events every year and this year is no exception.
We hosted a tour of the Inner Harbor yesterday which was a real treat. We got to go behind the scenes and walk through the many attractions, including the ship and other historical sites.
The Baltimore County Tourist Association was started in 1971 by the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce. They had a vision to bring people from all over the county together to share ideas and experiences and to help develop and grow the overall tourism industry in the county. Because the County has one of the largest populations of tourists in Maryland, this vision has evolved into what we are today.

So, to recap. A new tourism agency was formed, Baltimore County Tourism Development, Inc. to work together with local communities to develop a new tourism industry in the county, as well as a tourism marketing strategy that is focused on attracting people from Baltimore County to the county. They are dedicated to creating a cultural legacy for tourism in the county and, in doing so, are developing an innovative tourism marketing strategy.
The new tourism agency is based out of the Department of Tourism’s Baltimore Office, which is located in the Center for Creative Marketing in downtown Baltimore. The tourism marketing strategy will be implemented by the Department of Tourism’s Tourism Advisory Committee (TAC), which is composed of tourism professionals from different fields. The TAC will work with the marketing strategy to develop a marketing plan that will help attract and engage Maryland residents and visitors to the county.
Baltimore will be a major tourism city in Maryland, so the hope is that the TAC will have a broad understanding of tourism as it relates to the growth and development of the region. I believe there will be a strong focus on regional and local tourism, as well as an emphasis on the diversity of Maryland’s tourism industry.
The TAC will provide marketing support to the business community that is in the Maryland tourism industry. They will work with the Maryland Department of Tourism and Tourism Development to develop a marketing plan that will help attract and engage Maryland residents and visitors to the county. In addition, they will be developing a campaign for the county that will help the business community understand the importance of Maryland tourism as it relates to the broader Maryland economy.
This isn’t just any tourism marketing campaign, though. The TAC’s plan includes developing a marketing plan that will help attract and engage Maryland residents and visitors to the county.
